Biographical Note

Edward John Schlichte was a prominent business man in Connersville, Indiana. He was born September 17, 1870 in Cincinnati, Ohio, the son of Frederick and Mary Elizabeth Schlichte. He married Rose Ringemann and they had two sons, Vincent and Edward F. Following Rose's death in June 1900, Schlichte married Ellen B. Heeb in September 1901 and they had six children together. Mr. Schlichte owned and operated a grocery and dry goods business in Connersville for more than 30 years and also served as president and director of the Connersville Ice Company. On July 3, 1928 he was killed in a boating accident on Lake Wawasee in Kosciusko County, Indiana.
