Historical Note
The Connersville Ice Company, which served Connersville, Indiana and surrounding communities, was incorporated in 1898 with $15,000 capital stock. Bert Bell purchased the company in 1899 and operated the business until he sold his interest to Edward J. Schlichte and Simon Doenges in 1906. Initially, Schlichte served as president and Doenges was the secretary and general manager. Later, John Doenges became an owner with his brother and he served as the president. The brothers sold their controlling interest in the business to John Green of Portland, Indiana in 1942. In 1953, the company was purchased by Frank P. Edler of the Home Ice Company.
