Biographical Note
Graham Newell Fitch was born in Le Roy, New York on December 5, 1809. He studied medicine and practiced in Logansport, Indiana. He was a member of the Indiana House of Representatives from 1836-1839 and a United States Senator during 1857-1861. He was a professor at the Indianapolis Medical College in 1878. Fitch served during the Civil War as Colonel of the 46th Regiment, Indiana Volunteer Infantry during 1861-1862. He mustered out on August 6, 1862 and practiced medicine in Logansport until he died on November 29, 1892. He is bured at Mount Hope Cemetery in Logansport, Indiana.
