Scope and Contents
This collection includes the constitution and by-laws, membership lists, meeting minutes, correspondence, newspaper clippings and financial documents from the Irvington Athenaeum literary club ranging from 1900-1910. Also included is a list of speakers who addressed the club, including, but not limited to, Henry Van Dyke, Thomas Wentworth Higginson, Woodrow Wilson, William Butler Yeats, Edward Cummings, and Thomas Daly.

Historical Note
The Irvington Athenaeum was a literary club of Irvington, once a suburb of Indianapolis, Indiana. Will David Howe, a professor of English at Butler University, was the Secretary for the Board of Directors. "The Irvington Athenaeum, loosely affiliated with Butler [University], allowed both students and residents of the neighborhood to meet some important and distinguished people of the era."
