Scope and Contents
This collection includes the account book of Dr. Henry W. Jones and contains entries regarding his medical practice ranging from 1900 to 1915. Two pages in the back of the book were used to record information regarding tax levies of Portales and Roosevelt County, New Mexico for 1915-1916; a note about the incorporation of the Llano Irrigation Company from the Portales Times on January 20, 1916; and directions for a "Brooder for little chicks" from the Portales Times Herald(undated).

Biographical Note
Henry Warren Jones was born near Pleasant Hill, Miami County, Ohio on February 23, 1845, the eldest son of Samuel B. and Rhoda (Coate) Jones. He received his early education in a Friends' boarding school and at the age of 28, he began reading medicine with Miami County physician Thomas E. Teague. Jones subsequently attended the Ohio Medical College in Cincinnati and graduated in 1875. He began practicing medicine in Charlottesville, Indiana in 1875 and and continued his practice there until 1878 when he moved to Spiceland. Jones married Carrie Thornburg on December 9, 1876 and they had two sons. He and his wife moved to Portales, New Mexico around 1910, but later moved back to Spiceland. Jones died at the age of 77 on February 25, 1922.
