Administrative History

The Indiana Chamber of Commerce was established in 1922 and is the voice for businesses of all types and sizes at the Statehouse and in Congress. The largest, broad-based advocacy group in the state, it has full-time legislative experts working on behalf of Hoosiers in a number of areas, including tax and public finance, environment and energy, civil justice, and workplace safety. During the 1940s, the Chamber, along with the Indiana Tax Equality Committee and the National Tax Equality Association, advocated for federal income taxation of cooperative organizations.
