Fleming Wasson was the son of David and Elizabeth Wasson. Born on January 1, 1807 in Bourbon County, Kentucky, he moved with his family to New Paris, Ohio when still an infant. His grandfather Joseph Wasson settled on a quarter section of land near the Ohio border in Wayne County, Indiana around 1806 and Fleming later became the owner of this property.
