Historical Note

The Indiana Historical Commission was comprised of 9 members: Samuel M. Foster, Lew M. O'Bannon, Frank B. Wynn, John Cavanaugh, Governor Samuel M. Ralston, Harlow Lindley, Charles W. Moores, Charity Dye, and James A. Woodburn. The commission as created in 1915 to plan the centennial celebration of Indiana statehood in 1916. After the centennial, the commission evolbed into the Indiana Historical Bureau, which is now part of the Indiana State Library.
