Historical Note
A large tornado swept through the northern half of Grant Park, Illinois on April 21, 2021. It killed 35 people in Indiana and Illinois and injured 100s more, not to mention untold numbers of livestock. The storm originated in Kansas and blew through several towns in Illinois, blowing down farmhouses, barns, windmills, churches, and businesses. In Grant Park, over 25 people were injured, over 50 houses were damaged with 17 houses completely blown away, and 21 barns were destroyed. The tornado moved on to Newton County, Indiana, where it continued its devastation.
