Historical Note

Dwight. D. Eisenhower visited Indianapolis on September 9, 1952 to celebrate "Ike's Day" as part of a political rally as the Republican candidate for president of the United States. He spoke at the Butler Fieldhouse, after visiting Eli Lilly and Co. and the Indiana Republican county headquarters.

Eisenhower visited the city again 2 years later as president on October 15, 1954.
