This collection includes photographs and an autograph album from the Nibarger family in Indiana ranging from circa 1880 to 1948 regarding family members, group photographs, and World War II soldiers. One photograph has a letter written on the back from Orville Nibarger to his sister and brother (possibly Ida and her husband Duke) on July 2, 1948 regarding sale of a house

Biographical Note

Ida Icephine May Nibarger was born to Benjamin F. (1871-1947) and Mary L. “Judie” (Adams) Nibarger (1873-1932) on July 7, 1892 in Shirley, Indiana. She had one brother, Orville (1903-1960). Nibarger married (Hershel or Herchel) Duke Scott (1888-1956), son of Emily F. Scott Alford, in Anderson, Indiana on November 14, 1912. The couple had 2 children: Leroy Ralph (1919-1992) and Clarence B. (1913-1977). The family lived in Carrington, North Dakota in 1920 and Denhoff, North Dakota in 1930. Ida Scott divorced her first husband by 1940. She later married John N. Ursu (1888-1958). She died of a stroke on April 16, 1965 in New Castle, Indiana and was buried in Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown, Henry County, Indiana.

Eva Adams was the sister of Mary L. “Judie” (Adams) Nibarger (1873-1932). She married Joseph Hamel and they had at least 7 children: Josephine, Henry, Virgil, Albert, Fay, Melvin, and Molly.

Emily Frances Scott (1864-1944) had a son, Hershel Duke Scott (1888-1956). She married to William Perry Alford (1865-1913) and had another 5 children: Mary E., Nancy A., John H., Fremont A., and Ralph Monroe.

Ralph Monroe Alford married Irene S. Schacher (1915-2002) in 1933 and they had two children: Roger William (1939-2013) and Audrey June (1934-2008).
