Biographical Note

Robert Melvin Stewart was born to William S. and Margaret (McMillan) Stewart in Indiana on July 25, 1863. He married Nina Grace Evans on September 27, 1887 and they had a son named Robert E. The family lived at Harmony Grove Farm, R.F.D. 3, Goshen, Indiana, and for a time Grace's sister Lucy Norcross lived with them.

Stewart worked as a linotype operator and printer in Elkhart County, Indiana. He died in Briscoe, Elkhart County, Indiana on July 11, 1936.
