This collection includes card photographs from the Bradley family in Indianapolis, Indiana ranging from circa 1880 to 1953 depicting men, women, and children of the Bradley, Van Scyoc, and Shackelford families. There is also an obituary for H. Guy Bradley from 1953.

Biographical Note

The Bradley family mainly lived in Indianapolis, Indiana.

William B. Bradley married Sarah A. Roberts and they had several children: Martha Ann (1846-1928), Sarah (1848- ), Homer (1850-1923), Austin F. (1853-1916), John (1855-1911), Esther Jane (1860-1880), Rosa May (1862-1903), Mary Ellen (1861-1940), Cora Elizabeth (1868-1920), and James Keller.

Martha A. Bradley was born October 14, 1846 in Marion County, Indiana. She married a farmer, John Wesley Van Scyoc, on March 19, 1865 and they had two children: William H. (1869-1946) and Mary Bessie (1882-1966). She died in Marion County, Indiana on April 1, 1928 of pneumonia.

Mary Bessie Van Scyoc was born June 5, 1882 in Indiana. She married a streetcar conductor, Artie L. Shackelford, on September 9, 1908 in Marion County, Indiana and they had a son, Ralph W. She worked as an office clerk for L.S. Ayres and Co. She died of bronchitis on December 26, 1966 in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Homer Bradley (1850-1923), son of William B. and Sarah A. (Roberts) Bradley and was married twice, first to Almina Harcourt in 1872 in Indiana; then to Marinda Gallaher (1861-1909) in 1885 in Indianapolis, Indiana. He and Marina had two sons: Homer Guy and Lawrence.

Homer Guy Bradley was born March 2, 1888 in Fort Smith, Arkansas to Homer and Marinda Bradley and had one brother, Lawrence L. The family moved to Indianapolis, Indiana when he was a year old. Bradley attended Emmerich Manual Training High School. He then worked as a buyer in the printing industry and later worked for Eli Lilly and Company as superintendent of the printing department. Bradley married Lillie Irene Thompson on August 31, 1911 and they had three daughters: Janet, Rosemary, and Patricia. He died of a heart attack while driving his car on August 21, 1953.

Austin F. Bradley was born February 13, 1853 in Indiana. He worked as a schoolteacher. Bradley married Laura Hannum Butsch on December 29, 1880 and they had a son named Joseph Austin. He died March 14, 1916 in Anderson, Indiana.
