Scope and Contents

The collection consists of four documents, dated 1886 to 1937, relating to the lives of Edward Doyle and Mary (Kilslee) Doyle.

Includes a naturalization paper of Edward Doyle, issued by the First District Court of New Orleans, State of Louisiana dated October 26, 1852. Also, a discharge from the 150th Indiana Infantry dated August 5, 1865 (B056).

Biographical Note

Edward Doyle (born ca. 1826), a native of Ireland, emigrated to New Orleans on October 15, 1847, and resided in Louisiana until he applied for naturalization on October 26, 1852. Edward Doyle married Mary (Kilslee) Doyle on October 20, 1850. They had one daughter, Mary Doyle. On February 22, 1865, Edward Doyle was enrolled as a private in Company K of the 150th Regiment of Indiana Volunteers at Lafayette, Indiana. He was mustered into service on February 27, 1865; he was mustered out on August 5, 1865, at Stevenson Station, Virginia.
