Biographical Note

Howard Guy Ervin, Jr. was born in Hartford City, Indiana on May 10, 1918 to Howard G. and Nila [Nils] W. (or Lelah M. Smith) Ervin, and he was the older brother of William E. Ervin, later a prominent attorney in Hartford City and brother-in-law to Marie M. Barenbrugge Ervin, a prominent clubwoman. He was graduated in 1941 from the University of Illinois. During World War II he was a pilot in the U.S. Navy and held the rank of Lieutenant, serving from 1943 to 1947. He died March 16, 2005 in New Berlin, Wisconsin.
