This collection contains a transcription of the Civil War diary of Francis Marion Leavell ranging from 1862 August to 1863 August. The diary consists of short, almost daily entires concerning the activities of Leavell and the 73rd Indiana Regiment.

Biographical Note

Francis Marion Leavell was born in Miami County, Ohio on February 25, 1834. During the Civil War, he served in Company G of the 73rd Regiment of Indiana Volunteers under the command of Colonel Straight. Leavell was mustered out on July 1, 1865. He died in Fulton, Indiana on December 14, 1899.
