Scope and Contents

This collection comprises a letter from Ward Woodbridge Hudson to Col. A. May in New York on November 21, 1851. Hudson requested a “trifling favor” from May because of their friendship, asking for May to secure for him a commission from Indiana Governor Joseph Albert Wright. On the back is a message from May for forwarding the letter and his recommendation to Governor Wright. Wright made a note of acknowledgement, stating that the secretary of state would help the application move forward.

Biographical Note

Ward Woodbridge Hudson was born around 1822 in Connecticut. He went by Woodbridge Hudson and went into law, practicing in New York, New York during 1846 to 1863. Hudson died on March 19, 1864 in New York.
