Historical Note
The first school newspaper of Rossville High School, in Clinton County, Indiana, began as an English-class project under the supervision of Miss Leona M. Nuckles, English and Latin teacher, in the fall of 1926. There were 17 students on the staff of the Red and White, as it was first named; and Bruce Synder was the first editor. The newspaper, renamed the High Spot in 1929, changed to a junior-class undertaking and, in 1952, became a joint venture, the junior class writing news stories with the advanced typing class doing the mimeograph reproduction. In 1960, a journalism class took over the writing; and, the following year, the newspaper became an extra-curricular activity. The High Spot became an active member of the Indiana High School Press Association in 1961.
