The collection includes letters to Flora Gardner Kling, principally from the period 1900 to 1935, from writers, poets, illustrators, and musicians responding to her letters about their work, and to her requests for examples of their bookplates; correspondence regarding her collection of bookplates, particularly with other bookplate collectors; and her bookplate collection.

Biographical Note
Flora Gardiner Kling was born in 1857. She lived in Mount Vernon, Posey County, Indiana, in 1900. Kling was 42 years old and her husband Henry was 38. Flora's mother Mary Gardiner, age 81, lived with them. In 1930, they lived at 812 Mulberry Street, Mount Vernon. Henry, age 69, was a clerk at Can City. Flora was 72 years old. In 1939, Flora and Henry lived in the Protestant Home for the Aged in Evansville, Indiana. She died on March 22, 1940 and is buried at the Locust Hill Cemetery in Evansville, Indiana.
