Biographical Note

Katherine Kennedy Russell was born January 5, 1902 to John Wesley (1867-1937) and Lulu (Lula) (Dickson) Russell (1870-1940) in Parke County, Indiana. She had one living brother, William Jackob Dickson Russell (1892-1960). Russell graduated from St. Mary of the Woods College and Northwestern University. She married Jabes Puett Moore on September 23, 1937 in Indiana. They presumably divorced soon after, as he married Nellie Demmeis Maxwell in 1939. Katherine Russell then married George Willis Rainwater (1898-1967), a farmer and World War I veteran from Monticello, Illinois, on February 20, 1940. It was also Rainwater's second marriage, having been married to Henrietta Norris, with whom he had two children: Thelma and James. The Rainwaters lived in Bloomingdale, Penn Township, Parke County, Indiana. Katherine Rainwater was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She died in Clinton, Indiana on September 22, 1975 and was buried in Bloomingdale Friends Cemetery in Bloomingdale, Indiana. Her husband, George Rainwater died 8 years earlier.
