Scope and Contents

This collection consists of a letter written by Christopher Fatheree in Saudi Arabia to his parents in Indianapolis, Indiana while serving with the Marines during the Persian Gulf War, as well as a braided bracelet made by Southport PTA, a Marine figure pin crafted from fabric, made by teacher at Homecroft Elementary, and a name badge made by worker at Wavetek RH products, Inc.

Biographical Note

In 2004, Major Christopher Fatheree of the U.S. Marine Corps, was a duty officer in the White House Situation Room. Prior 2004, he had served in a variety of military assignments throughout the 1990s and early 2000s, including platoon commander for a tank platoon during the Persian Gulf War; executive officer for a tank company; the intelligence officer (S2) for 1st Battalion, 1st Marines, deploying to Somalia during Operation Restor Hope and the western Pacific; and battalion executive office afor 1st Battalion, 1st Marines, and regimental adjutant, 1st Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division. Fatheree also served as intelligence officer during deployment to Aviano, Itlay and Taszar, Hungary, as well as in Tampa, Florida. He also deployed to Afghanistan during Operation Enduring Freedom.

Fatheree earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from the U.S. Naval Academy, a Master of Science degree in Military Sciences, Intelligence, from American Military University. and a Master of Arts degree in National Security and Strategic Studies from the U.S. Naval War College.
