Historical Note
The Sullivan County Agricultural Society was organized in Carlisle, Sullivan County, in 1852. The annual fair was moved from Carlisle to the city of Sullivan in 1865, and the first fair in that new location took place the following year. Several of the fairs held in the late 1880s were financially successful. In 1888, the Society made improvements to their fair grounds. They disbanded in 1896.
