The collection consists of five ribbons used in the reunion celebrations of 30th Indiana Regiment veterans in 1903, 1905, and 1908.

Historical Note
The 30th Indiana Regiment was mustered into service on September 24, 1861. The regiment had 38 commissioned officers and 968 enlisted men. During the extent of its service (a period of four years, two months, and a day), the regiment marched over 2,500 miles. 137 men died in battle and 275 died of disease. Another 47 died while captives of the Confederates. Over the course of their service, 374 men were wounded.
Colonels leading the regiment were Sion S. Bas, J.B. Dodge, Orin D. Hurd, and H.W. Lawton. In Tennessee the 30th Regiment fought at Shiloh, Stone River, Franklin, and Nashville. In Georgia, the 30th fought at Chickamauga, Rocky Face Ridge, Resaca, Dallas, Kenesaw Mountain, Atlanta, and Lovejoy’s Station. The 30th also saw action in Mississippi, Louisiana, Texas, and Alabama.
