Handwritten notes seem to pertain to assorted topics, e.g. Spain, Pillars of Hercules, American drama.

Biographical Note
Mrs. Demarchus C. Brown was born Jessie L. Christian in Madison, IN in October 1876. She graduated from Butler College in 1897. On September 1, 1897, she married Demarchus C. Brown, the Indiana State Librarian. Jessie Brown lectured for women’s clubs in Indiana and adjoining states on literary, biographical and travel topics. Her contributions to culture were recognized at a testimonial program at the English Theater on May 23, 1936. She died in 1941.
