Biographical Note

Joseph “Bull” Marbury was born on December 16, 1938, in Leeds, Alabama. He won five straight high school championships playing for R. R. Moton High School. Marbury started playing semi-professional baseball in the 1940s and bounced around until he made his way to the Indianapolis Clowns from 1957 to 1958. During his two years with the Clowns, Marbury was a tremendous hitter, batting 0.329 in 1957 and 0.361 in 1958. His brother also played semi-professional baseball for many years but in 1958, the two went back to Alabama to work for American Cast Iron Pipe Company (ACIPCO) and play semi-professional baseball locally. Bull went on to coach little league baseball and become and ordained deacon.
