The collection includes an outline of the presentation Capt. Born gave to the
Indianapolis Aero Club in 1998 and an article he wrote for the U.S. Air Force Museum

Biographical Note
Captain Donald E. Born of Indianapolis, Indiana was a pilot in the Vietnam War. He
flew a Lockheed 53-555 aircraft nicknamed, “Triple Nickel” and on August 9, 1998, he
gave a presentation to the Indianapolis Aero Club about his experiences during the war
flying this aircraft. The “Triple Nickel” is on display at the United States Air Force
Museum at the Wright-Patterson Air Force Museum in Dayton, Ohio.
