Historical Note

The Terre Haute School Society was operational during the 1810s through the 1830s, as a community organization for the promotion of schools and education within Vigo County and the area surrounding Terre Haute. The society built at least one school in Vigo County, provided children with school supplies, fundraised for teachers, collected money for continuing educational support, and sent out updates to subscribers or donors.
