Scope and Contents
This collection includes documents and photographs collected by Lois York, as well as her ancestors, regarding the history of Hendricks County, especially Coatesville where she lived. The Woman's Literary Club of Coatesville published their membership list and programs in little booklets from 1913 through 1964. Edith Sharp Ryner, Lois York's mother, was a long-time member. Rev. Cecil J. Sharp, a pastor and leader in religous education in the Christian Church, was the uncle of Lois York. Clark H. Tanner wrote his thesis on Rev. C. J. Sharp in 1976. There are several historic oversized photographs and one legal document signed by Andrew Jackson in a separate folder.

Biographical Note
Lois Ryner York lived in Coatesville, Indiana, in 1979 when she donated this collection. Her father, Francis Hall Ryner, worked at the Indianapolis Post Office and the Railway Mail Serice for over 40 years, and farmed 90 acres in Hendricks County. Ryner descended from Jacob Wisehart on his mother's side, and Henry Ryner on his father's side. Lois' mother had Sharp, Randel, Minter, and Ridpath ancestors. Lois was born about 1907, and her husband was born about 1901. In 1979, they had lived at their house located at Hendricks Co. 800 W, 300S, for 44 of their 51 years of married life.
