Scope and Contents

This collection contains issues 1-11 of Darrol Pierson's "Prophets Amoung Us." Ranging from August 1991 to October 1994, the typewritten zine covers a variety of religious topics, including Seventh-day Adventism, Krishna, Buddhism, David Koresh and the Branch Davidians. The collection also includes an article Pierson wrote for Rediscoveries Newsletter (November 4, 1993), issues 1 and 2 of his "Ugarit Palladium-Argus" for the apazine Pagan APA (September 4, 1993 and January 27, 1994), and photocopies of reviews regarding Pierson's zines (1993-1994).

Biographical / Historical

"Prophets Among Us" is a zine written and printed by Darrol Pierson of Indianapolis, Indiana in the 1990s. According to the Cambridge Dictionary, a zine is "a small magazine that is produced cheaply by one person or a small group of people, and is about a subject they are interested in." Pierson's zine contains essays about religion that reflect on his background in the Seventh-day Adventist Church and his interest in non-Western religions, especially Hinduism and Buddhism.
