Historical Note
The Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) was a New Deal public works program created during the Great Depression. The program promoted environmental conservation and gave employment to nearly 3 million young men from 1933 to 1942. The CCC helped reforest the country and stocked rivers and lakes with fish. The Corpsmen also built canals, ditches, roads and helped develop state and national parks.
