Scope and Contents
This collection comprises a small, 164-page ledger book from Josephine L. Morris in Rockville, Indiana, dated January 20, 1879. The first 38 pages contain remedies for various health problems, such as: “For Rhumitisem” on page 20; “For Broncal trouble or cough” on page 21; and “To relieve cloudy condition in urine” on page 24. It also contains two advertisement clippings, one for Jeculin made by the Upjohn Company, and one for Parke-Davis Haliver Oil. From page 95 through the inside back cover, Morris recorded financial information, such as government bonds and bank certificates from 1919 through 1938.
There are also other items, including a letter from M. M. Morris to daughter Josephine L. Long on December 24, 1907; two deposit slips from Union Bank and Trust Company, Kokomo; a grape wine recipe; a prescriptions on imprinted forms; various cards and notes; and cures for bronchitis, discharging ear, gall stones, and worms, ranging from 1879 to 1938.

Biographical Note
Josephine Lovetta Morris was born October 27, 1873 to Dr. Aaron W. and Margaret Morris. In 1880, the family was living in Monroe, Howard County, Indiana. Twenty years later, the family lived in Honey Creek, Howard County. In 1920, Josephine was married and living in Kokomo, Howard County, Indiana, with her husband, William. G. Long and 7-year-old aughter Frances M. In 1930, the family lived in Kokomo where William worked as a salesman. Josephine Lovetta Morris Long died August 31, 1936, at the age of 62.
