This collection includes one 34-page, typed manuscript and one envelope front from Frank E. Stevenson in Rockville, Indiana from about 1913 regarding the state of preparedness of the U.S. military for war. The envelope is addressed to Major F. E. Stevenson, Field Artillery Ind. Nat. Guard, Rockville, Ind., with a return address of War Department, Division of Militia Affairs and marked "Official Business." Written on the envelope is "Report 7055/76," "Are we prepared for war," and "Rockville Tribune, March 4, 1913."

Biographical Note
In 1913 Major Frank E. Stevenson (1862?-1947) presented his paper, on the preparedness of the United States for war, to an audience of military and civilians. The event was reported in the March 4, 1913 issue of the Rockville Tribune. Stevenson was also a member of the Indiana National Guard as well as a merchant in Rockville, Indiana.
Stevenson was born about 1863 in Indiana and married Katharine Rice. As a child, he clerked in his father's dry goods store in Rockville, Indiana.
