This collection includes 1 handwritten letter from Sallie J. Tedrow in Lanesville, Indiana on June 14, 1864. Within the letter, Tedrow discussed contemporary politics and the U.S. Civil War, with references to a brother, apparently a war casuality, as well as another letter recipient. She instructed her correspondent to direct future correspondence to Germantown.

Biographical Note
Sallie J. Tedrow resided in Lanesville, Indiana in 1864, when she wrote a letter to a soldier friend with comments about current politics and the Civil War. The addressee of the letter, "Cousin" W-----, may be her future husband George W. Lewis. Lewis enlisted in the 3rd Indiana Cavalry, 45th Indiana Regiment, which was active near Richmond, Virginia in late spring of 1864. George W. Lewis married Tedrow in September, 1865 in Marion County, Indiana.
