Scope and Contents
The collection includes Frank W. Olin's diaries (1877, 1897-1898, 1922-1936, 1938-1939); correspondence, circulars, and reports from organizations with which Olin was associated, including the Indianapolis Commercial Club and the Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce (1902-1920s), the Indianapolis Civic League (1908), the YMCA (1909-1913), the Layman's Missionary Movement and its Indianapolis convention in 1916, the American Rights Committee (1916), and the Indianapolis Home for Aged Women (1921-1935); political papers, including papers relating to the Republican Party in Indianapolis (1900s-1910s), and the Citizen's Non-Partisan Movement (1913); insurance and other business papers, including papers relating to the Indiana Association of Life Underwriters (1908); Olin's business letterbook (late 1880s); and an unpublished literary magazine of the City academy, edited by Olin (1869). Also included are miscellaneous legal and financial documents from LaPorte County (1832-1870s).

Biographical Note
Frank W. Olin attended City Academy in Indianapolis (1860s); worked for the Howe Sewing Machine Company in Peru, Miami County (1872-1875) and Indianapolis (1875-1882, 1884-1885); engaged in the typewriter business in Indianapolis (1886-1897); engaged in the life insurance business (1897-1917); involved in establishing the State Automobile Insurance Association (1917), and worked for the association (1917-1941); active in Indianapolis civic organizations.
