Biographical / Historical

Wayne Township is located in the western part of Marion County, Indiana. Settlement began in 1821 and the township was organized the following year. Railroad developments attracted residents and by 1890 the township had a population of 7,949 and was divided into nine precincts. The polling location for the fourth precinct was at the school house in Mount Jackson.
