Biographical / Historical
Northern Indiana artist R. Ramsey Smith’s passion for trains and train stations led him to begin creating pen and ink drawings of historic train stations in 1996. To create his artwork, he used old photographs and drawings as reference and also his own photos if a station was still standing. In a 1999 interview he noted that the newer train stations didn't have the architectural style of the old stations and was only interested in drawing the older ones because they "were works of art, not constructed simply for practicality's sake."
