This collection includes photocopies of two letters written by Sarah Schooley of Loudoun County, Virginia and sent to her sister Ruth in Franklin County, Indiana. Dated May 30, 1830 and April 6, 1841, her letters share news about family, friends, crops, and market prices.

Biographical Note
Sarah Schooley was born in 1797 in Loudoun County, Virginia to William and Hannah Schooley. She was a Quaker and never married. By 1841 she was living with her brother William and she later moved with his family to Greene County, Ohio around 1848. In the Ohio Wills and Probate records her brother listed her death as June 17, 1854, but her headstone lists her year of death as 1853.
