This collection includes photostats of correspondence, account books, and other papers from the Cummings family in Cannelton, Indiana and the United States, ranging from 1857 to 1932 regarding the accounting records of the Torrent Fire Company of Cannelton, Indiana; family and military life during the U.S. Civil War; and fundraising efforts of the Young Men's Christian Association during World War I.

Historical Note

Torrent Fire Company was organized in Cannelton, Indiana in 1852. They were a volunteer fire fighting organization serving the surrounding communities. They were a part of the southern Indiana community, operating for over 40 years.
