Biographical Note
Thomas W. Lankford was born July 29, 1844 in Clay County, Indiana to Walker and Roxana (Thomas) Lankford. On February 28, 1864, he enrolled as a private with Company G, 59th Indiana Regiment during the U.S. Civil War. Lankford was mustered in on March 4, 1864 and served until he was honorably discharged at Louisville, Kentucky on July 17, 1865. He married Susan Cromwell around 1867 and they had 9 children. Lankford was a farmer and died at the age of 72 on February 19, 1917.
