Scope and Contents
This collection includes the reminiscences of Charlotte Jones Dunn regarding the early days of the Contemporary Club of Indianapolis. Dunn's circa 1940 recollections were handwritten on five pages of her personal stationary. The collection also includes a few brief recollections about the club typewritten by Dr. Christopher B. Coleman in December 1940.

Biographical Note
Charlotte Elliott Jones was born August 16, 1869 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Aquilla and Flora C. (Elliott) Jones. She attended May Wright Sewall's Classical Girls School and later worked as Sewall's private secretary. Jones married Jacob Piatt Dunn, an Indiana author and historian, on November 23, 1892 and they had three children. In 1911, she was named to the board of the Indiana Women's Prison and served until 1938. Following the death of her husband in 1924, she became the curator of the Indianapolis Propylaeum and served in this position until 1944. Dunn was a member of several social clubs, including the Contemporary Club, the Fortnightly Literary Club, and the Portfolio Club. Charlotte Dunn died at the age of 86 on April 11, 1956.
