This collection contains photocopies of the family Bible records of Mary Jane English, including the Bible's title page and the pages used to record the mother and father, births, marriages, and deaths. The Bible was published in 1856 but also records family births and marriages that occured prior to that date. The last entry to the Bible was made to record Mrs. English's death on July 22, 1892.

Biographical Note

Mary Jane Lee was born May 16, 1829 in Decatur County, Indiana to Absalom D. and Margaret (Pritchard) Lee. She married Joesph H. English on May 27, 1847 and they had 6 children: John Marshall D., William A., James C., Thomas J., Margaret E., and Milton M. Following William's death in March 1882, Mary English married Creth J. Loyd in November 1884. She died at the age of 63 on July 22, 1892.
