Historical Note

On January 1, 1895, Harry B. Upman and his brother Frank Upman opened the McFarlan Hotel in Connersville, Indiana. The four story brick building had seventy rooms and was said to be the finest hotel in Indiana outside of Indianapolis. Due to financial issues, Dan T. Roots became the assignee of the McFarlan Hotel Company in December 1897. The hotel closed in the early 1960s and was torn down in 1964.
