Biographical Note
Mildred Irene (Dixon) Harrod was born October 4, 1906 in Hope, Indiana to Harmon S. and Stella (Taylor) Dixon. She was the second of five children, including Ethel, Lola, Lewis and Ernest P. Harrod was a graduate of DePauw University. She taught English, Latin, physical education, home economics, and biology at area high schools and authored several genealogy books. Harrod married Dolph Orene Harrod in Vincennes, Indiana on May 10, 1936. They had one daughter, Patricia and one son, John Dixon. Harrod was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the United Methodist Church, Indiana Historical Society, and other organizations and was a founding member of the Yellow Trail Museum in Hope. She died March 14, 1994 and was buried in the Flat Rock Cemetery, Flat Rock, Indiana.
