Biographical / Historical

Ida E. Robins was born April 20, 1878 in LaPorte County, Indiana to Norman and Emily (Learn) Robins. She married George W. Collom on December 25, 1899 and they had one daughter, Lavon (1907-1974). Around 1910, George and his brother William opened a general store in La Crosse, another small community in LaPorte County, and the Colloms moved there. The store was traded for a farm in November 1916 and George, Ida, and Lavon moved to Bartow, Florida the following year. After a long illness, Ida Collom died at the age of 47 on June 28, 1925.
