This collection includes photocopies of news clippings and letters from Corporal Orval Ferguson to his sister, Emma Shepard, ranging from 1917 to 1930, while he was stationed in Europe during World War I. Ferguson's obituary is also included.

Biographical Note

Orval Ferguson was a resident of Oakland City, Indiana. He enlisted in Evansville in April, 1917 and served in Company B, 2nd Engineers, American Expeditionary Forces in France during World War I. After the war, he was the district sales manager for the Westinghouse Electric Company in Indianapolis and died at age 33 at Methodist Hospital following an appendectomy.
