Scope and Contents

This collection contains the quarterly meeting minutes from November 1858 to January 1874 of the Kendallville Circuit of the Wabash Conference (later North Indiana Conference) of the Methodist Protestant Church. The volume also includes the minutes of the quarterly meetings of the Lisbon Mission and Lisbon Circuit from November 1851 to August 1856 and the quarterly meeting minutes of the Auburn Circuit from September 1856 to August 1858. The collection also has a piece of paper with a note signed by F. M. Hussey stating that he baptised Joseph Arthur and Elizabeth Lorena Rosenberry (Rosenbury), children of Warren K. and Lurany Rosenbury, on November 7, 1883.

Historical Note

In September 1851, the Lisbon Mission was organized at the sixth annual session of the Wabash Conference of the Methodist Protestant Church held at Portland, Jay County, Indiana. It was referred to as the Lisbon Circuit from December 1854 to August 1856. It was organized as the Auburn Circuit by the Conference in September 1856, then in November 1858, it became the Kendallville Circuit, with A. S. Bissell appointed chairman and A. D. Whitford appointed secretary.
