Biographical Note
David P. McLellan was born on July 23, 1934 in Chillicothe, Ohio to Huber D. and Agnes (Corbitt) McLellan. He moved with his family to La Porte, Indiana in 1946. Following graduation from La Porte High School in 1952, he began working with the New York Central Railroad as a ticket clerk and interlocker operator. In 1957, he was drafted by the U.S. Army and served in the 97th and 24th signal battalions. After his service, he returned to working on the railroad before leaving in 1968 to become a switch equipment technician for Indiana Bell Telephone. He was an avid historian and was well-versed in local railroad history. In 1989, he coauthored and published The Lake Shore and Michigan Southern Railway with Bill Warrick. He passed away at the age of 73 on January 12, 2007.

William Anthony "Bill" Warrick was born on March 22, 1919 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Ethelbert and Minnie Mae (Davis) Warrick. Bill graduated from Purdue University in 1944 and worked as a reporter, writer, and broadcaster for radio and television stations in Chicago, Minneapolis and South Bend. He produced several film and tape documentaries on railroad and transportation subjects. He died at the age of 96 on August 22, 2015.
