Biographical Note
C. (Charles) Gilbert Davenport was born March 7, 1872 in Sharpsville, Tipton County, Indiana to Austin and Mary Jane (Coons) Davenport. He married Ida Belle Carter in December 1895 and they had six children, four of whom lived to adulthood: Easter Pearl, Mary Mearle, Rebecca Violet, and Vera Mae. He purchased the Windfall Telephone Exchange in 1909 and managed it until he sold it in the summer of 1927. He and his wife moved to Kokomo, Indiana and he passed away there at the age of 76 on January 23, 1940.
