Scope and Contents
This collection consists of photocopies of items from Homer C. Dell that are related to Spencer Township and North Vernon of Jennings County, Indiana. Items included are a January 28, 1922 letter, written on John C. Cope’s letterhead, that was sent to Jennings County librarian Mrs. Isaac C. Caldwell in response to a request for early history of North Vernon; the 8-page "History of Spencer Township" by Alice Jane (Bruner) Wohrer from circa 1927; and a clipping of the article, "Pioneer Woman Writes History of Spencer County," published in an unknown paper in the 1960s.

Biographical Note
Homer Charles Dell was born October 10, 1899 in Jackson County, Indiana to Sylvanus and Isadora (Miller) Dell. The family moved to Jennings County during his childhood and he later owned and operated the Dell Building Supply Company in North Vernon. He was a charter member of Our Heritage, Inc. and served as the organization's president. He also served on the Jennings County Library Board and was a member of the Indiana Historical Society. He died at the age of 79 on September 17, 1978.
