Scope and Contents

This collection contains several of Amelia Elizabeth Cooper's items related to the Indiana Christian Endeavor Union, including a 1933 membership card, programs from the Indiana conventions held in 1936 and 1938, a 1941 birthday calendar booklet from the Roberts Park Methodist Church, and four undated Christian Endeavor banquet programs.

Biographical Note

Amelia Elizabeth Cooper was born July 3, 1893 in Illinois to Samuel and Cora (Turpin) Cooper. Around 1907, she moved with her parents to Indianapolis, Indiana. Cooper was an ordained minister of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and served as executive and field secretary of the Indiana Christian Endeavor Union. She also served a similar post in Nebraska for three years and served as a field secretary in Kansas. Copper was an active member of the Gov. Oliver Perry Morton Chapter of the Daughters of the Union, the Aftermath Club, Cornelian Club, Queen Esther Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, and the Delta Delta Delta sorority. Cooper passed away at the age of 79 on October 26, 1972.
